Description: About the Urban Justice Center's Human Rights Project Formerly the Organizing Project, the Human Rights Project (HRP) identifies and publicizes human rights violations related to New York social welfare policies. The HRP develops networks of social service providers, advocates, and community organizations to gather quantitative and qualitative information from individuals and families living in poverty. Based on the information collected, the Project identifies human rights violations, writes reports, and coordinates advocacy efforts to redress the abuses uncovered. Responsibilities Responsible for research component of documentation project which includes creation of project's documentation methodology and protocol; survey development; conduct research; database management; data analysis; writing regular human rights reports based on data collected; participate in collective decision making process for the project; and grant writing.
Requirements: Qualifications BA, Master's degree or JD with strong writing and research skills; working knowledge of SPSS; two years relevant work experience; and interest in working as part of a collective. Knowledge of human rights strongly recommended. Bilingual Spanish/English required, knowledge of NYC welfare reform issues are a plus.
