: JOB PURPOSE: To provide instructors and staff with technical and pedagogical support for the development of Internet-based courses and the creation of instruction related materials for the Internet. To provide quality instruction in courses in one of the disciplines as listed above in the Position Title. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Instructional Related Functions Work independently and with other faculty to develop classroom materials, including presentation technology, multimedia, web-based delivery techniques and assessment, which accommodate different learning styles and incorporate instructional design principles. Evaluate appropriate software and Internet tools related to instruction. Maintain instruction-related files and software on the faculty Web servers. Refer staff and instructors to appropriate LCC and off-campus instructional technology training opportunities and resources. Keep up with current developments in the appropriate instructional design fields. Technical Functions Provide faculty users with program-specific support and training, including the creation and maintenance of accounts and the installation of new client or server software. In conjunction with Computer Services and Electronic Services departments, perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of faculty web servers (Mac, NT, UNIX) and take appropriate action, including diagnosis and referral. Maintain records of software installations and upgrades and user account information. In conjunction with Computer Services, recover system from backups. Keep up with current developments in the appropriate server fields. Develop and maintain working relationships with software vendors/manufacturers to assure proper support, upgrade opportunities and cost evaluation. Teaching Functions Teach a variety of discipline specific courses as assigned. Participate in divisional, departmental and other professional activities on and off campus. Teach in a learning environment that puts students first. Develop new courses, create teaching modules, and revise existing courses to incorporate current technology and integrate competency-based learning principles that focus on student outcomes. Develop innovative and accurate assessment measures that help the student demonstrate proficiencies. INTERNET TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTION SPECIALIST/INSTRUCTOR #C002004 Work individually, as well as with other instructors, to develop and continually update course outlines. Work individually and with other instructors to prepare assignments, testing criteria, teaching aids, and reference materials. Work with students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds with a wide variety of academic goals. Work one-on-one with students through office hours and in other settings to help them with course content questions as well as with questions relating to program options and academic choices. OTHER FUNCTIONS: Technical Functions Serve as a team member with the Instructional Technological Infrastructure project of the Strategic Learning Initiative and coordinate with other advisory groups, including Web Site Steering Committee, Distance Learning and the Technology Advising and Coordinating Team (TACT). Generate and disseminate information regarding the faculty Web servers and services to instructional staff members. Coordinate platform specific and server operations with other Internet-based Solutions Instructors, Computer Services and Instructional Computing. Serve on appropriate college committees as assigned.

Requirements
: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Minimum requirements are as follows determined by discipline:

Science: Master's degree (M.A., M.S., or M.A.T.) in the appropriate science, or Master's degree plus 30 quarter hours of upper division and/or graduate hours in the appropriate science. Requires at least one year part-time science instruction (9 quarter credits) or equivalent preferred. English: Master's degree in English or closely related field preferred. Requires recent college teaching experience.

Speech: Master's degree in Speech Communication or equivalent. Recent college teaching experience in speech communication and experience with computer assisted instruction.

Computer Information Technology: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Computer Information Systems or related field plus 45 additional quarter credit hours of advanced course work OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Computer Information Systems, or related field. Requires work experience in an Information Technology professional position for business/industry using networked, multi-user computer systems.

Mathematics: Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field, with 30 quarter credits or 18 semester credits of graduate level equivalent mathematics. Requires success in teaching community college level mathematics. Experience can be at the community college or other schools. Social Science: Master's degree in the appropriate Social Science field or Master's degree plus 30 quarter hours in the appropriate Social Science field. Spanish: Master's degree in Spanish or a closely related field. One year of full-time college instruction in beginning and intermediate levels of Spanish or its equivalent preferred. All disciplines: Bilingual, multi-cultural experience preferred. Technical Experience: Two years of teaching experience in higher education, including distance education component and instructional technology delivery systems, or equivalent experience. One year of curriculum development experience at the course level including evaluation and selection of instructional software tools, development of instructional web pages and services, and successful participation on work teams with other faculty, or equivalent experience. One year work experience in system administration of networked Macintosh, Windows NT, Unix or related platforms, including: installation of client software, configuration of applications and system software, and operational procedures (backup/restore, reboot, performance monitoring), or equivalent experience. INTERNET TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTION SPECIALIST/INSTRUCTOR #C002004 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Instructional Candidates must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: ability to participate with instructors on curriculum development as it pertains to Internet technology; maintain awareness of current trends in online education; participate in college efforts to meet instructional needs of the faculty for distance learning. Technical Candidates must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: ability to maintain records of software installations, upgrades and user account information; stay current with developments in software and hardware related to the appropriate platform; understand and use available technology as communication and data gathering tools; recover data from regularly scheduled backups; diagnose and troubleshoot problems/conflicts with the server hardware and software. General Candidates must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: ability to understand, develop and provide a supportive environment for faculty and staff; convey and exchange technical information with people unfamiliar with technical aspects of the hardware or software; use appropriate technology to accomplish job functions; work in a cooperative manner with others; communicate and work effectively and respectfully with students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including, but not limited to: students of color, international students, older students, working students, bilingual students, students from different cultures and students with disabilities; must demonstrate an active concern for meeting the needs of students, staff and the public.
